Mushroom Madness
Items you need to make your own mushroom hat:
A big cardboard box (I used a chewys box) - for base
White felt - to cut white circles
White fabric
Red fabric
Polyfil
Tape
Hot glue
I cut a 3ft circumference circle out of the cardboard to be the mushroom hat base. After, I cut six 2inch by 8inch strips to form the dom. I taped these on with painters tape. From there I cut a white sheet for the white underside fabric, got it situated on the bottom, and put polyfil through out the domed creation of the hat. After the polyfil was as full as I could make it I used red fabric over the top of the dome, taped again to make sure it would not come off. I then cut circles out of the white felt and hot glued them on where I felt they should go. I did not have enough red fabric so I had to use watered down red acryclic paint to finish creating the top of the dome.
What would I do differently: This hat is way too big and heavy. I would either redo the size with less polyfil on the top, or make it all around a smaller mushroom hat. However the posing with it is completely worth the hviness and I absolutely love it. Best part yet is that you can wear it to the renaissance fair when all said and done!
